Unlock the speed of your e-bike.
25 km/h → NO LIMIT.
Speed Control 2, the app for your ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro or ENGWE E26 3.0 Pro: connects via Bluetooth and removes the factory speed limit. You choose the cap: from 1 to 99 km/h, or no limit at all. No wires, no chips, no soldering — just your phone.
The same bike. A different soul.
Out of the factory your e-bike cuts out at 25 km/h. With Speed Control 2 you decide where to stop.
Before — stock
The motor stops assisting as soon as you hit 25 km/h, even if you still have legs and battery left.
After — Speed Control 2
Custom limit or NO LIMIT: assistance keeps going as far as you want. To go back as before: one tap on 25 km/h + switch the bike off and on.
Everything the app does
No subscription, no hardware to install: a single Android app that talks directly to your bike's controller.
NO LIMIT speed unlock
Removes the factory 25 km/h limit with one tap, straight from your phone. 100% reversible: whenever you want, one tap returns the bike to its legal configuration.
Widget 25 / NO LIMIT — one tap back to legal
Put the widget on your phone's home screen: one tap restores the legal 25 km/h limit, without opening the app. Then switch the bike off and on: perfectly compliant again. Returning to 25 km/h is always available, even without a license.
Custom limits
You choose the cap, with precision.
Bluetooth connection
No chip to solder, no box to hide: BLE only.
Bike ON/OFF widget
Turn the bike on and off from your phone's home screen, without opening the app.
Lights widget
Instant front/rear lights from the home screen — it makes a difference at night.
Real-time speedometer
Live speed read from the controller as you pedal, with a clear gauge and a day/night interface — the same graphics as the app, see it here.
Secure payment, server verification
License purchasable in-app with PayPal: activation happens on the server after the order is verified, and the license is tied to your bike, not your phone. Changing device? Recover License and you're off again.
Ready in three steps
From download to first burst of speed: five minutes, literally.
Install the APK
Download Speed Control 2 (3.9 MB) and open it: Android will ask you to allow installation from "unknown sources" — that's normal for apps outside the Play Store. Follow the step-by-step PDF guide if in doubt.
Connect the bike
Turn on the e-bike, open the app and tap connect: the bike appears among nearby Bluetooth devices. No codes, no complicated pairing.
Choose your limit
Activate the Full license (€29.99 one-time, PayPal, instant activation) and go: 25 km/h, a custom cap from 1 to 99, or NO LIMIT. From the next time, from the widgets too.
↩ To go back legal: one tap on 25 km/h (app or home widget) and switch the bike off/on.
Tested in the field, not in a lab
Speed Control 2 was born on a real bike, not on an emulator. The protocol is the one used by ENGWE e-bikes.
- ✓ENGWE L20 3.0 Pro — development and test bike: unlock, live speedometer, widgets and commands tested km after km. L20 3.0 Pro page →
- ✓ENGWE E26 3.0 Pro — compatibility confirmed by a user (October 2026): bike recognised at once, smooth unlock and speed changes. Lights and pedal-assist modes from the app still to be verified on this model. E26 3.0 Pro page →
- ✓Requirements — Android 7.0 or later phone with Bluetooth; no root, no physical modification of the bike.
- ✓Minimal permissions — the app only asks for Bluetooth (and location, required by Android for BLE scanning) plus Internet for the license. Nothing else.
- ✓Independent — Speed Control 2 is not an official ENGWE app and this site is not affiliated with the manufacturer: the model name is mentioned for compatibility only.

Frequently asked questions
How does the speed unlock work?
The app connects via Bluetooth to the e-bike's controller and sends the unlock commands. No wires, soldering, chips or physical modifications: everything happens in software, straight from your phone.
Can I choose the speed limit myself?
Yes. You can keep 25 km/h, set a custom limit from 1 to 99 km/h, or activate NO LIMIT mode, which removes the factory limit entirely.
How do I get back to a legal bike?
With one tap: press the 25 km/h button in the app or the 25 / NO LIMIT widget on your phone's home screen, then switch the bike off and on. The factory limit is restored and the bike is compliant again with EU pedelec rules (25 km/h). Returning to 25 km/h is always available, even without a license.
Which bikes does it work with?
The app is developed and tested on the protocol of ENGWE e-bikes, in particular the L20 3.0 Pro; a user has confirmed it also works on the E26 3.0 Pro. It is not an official ENGWE app and is not affiliated with the manufacturer.
How much does the license cost?
€29.99 one-time only, paid via PayPal directly in the app. The license is lifetime, no renewals, and activates automatically right after payment.
If I change phone, do I have to buy the license again?
No. The license is tied to the bike (machine code), not the phone. You can reinstall the app on a new phone and use "Recover License" to reactivate it.
Do I need root or have to open the bike?
No. No root, no opening or physically modifying the bike: an Android 7.0+ phone with Bluetooth is all you need.
Is it legal to ride the unlocked bike?
Unlocking turns the e-bike into a vehicle that no longer complies with EU Regulation 168/2013 (EPAC/pedelec class): riding it on public roads and areas is prohibited. Use is allowed exclusively on private land closed to traffic, as you declare you know by accepting the in-app disclaimer.
Does unlocking void the warranty?
Unlocking stresses the motor, battery and components beyond their design limits and may void the manufacturer's warranty, besides causing accelerated wear. Think it through before activating NO LIMIT.
⚠︎ Legal warning
Unlocking the speed alters the vehicle's factory characteristics and voids its compliance with EU Regulation 168/2013 and local road law (in Italy: art. 50 of the Highway Code): the vehicle becomes a non-type-approved moped, not allowed on roads, cycle paths or public areas.
The app is intended for use of the vehicle exclusively on private land closed to traffic. The user declares they are aware of this and indemnifies the developers from any civil and criminal liability, expressly accepting these clauses at the app's first launch.
Speed Control 2 is not affiliated with ENGWE or any bicycle manufacturer; the brands mentioned belong to their respective owners.
